The Hudson boys track and field team placed eighth with 37 points at the 23-team Second Sole Eagle Elite competition Saturday at GlenOak High School in Canton.

Strongsville won the competition with 66 points and Salem and Twinsburg finished in a tie for second with 55 points.

Adam Beucler was the runner-up in the 3,200-meter race with a time of 9 minutes, 22.1 seconds. Teammate Jacob Russo captured sixth (9:43.62).

Beucler joined Lucas Lay, Luke Good and Kenny McCaughey on the third-place 3,200 relay team (8:10.98).

Andrew Goldslager took third in the 1,600 in 4:31.29 and Hunter Norman placed fifth in the 300 hurdles (41.47).

Nathan Slater finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 138 feet and eighth in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet, 9 inches. Toth took sixth in the discus (136-2).

Also placing for the Explorers was the 1,600 relay team of Norman, Ethan Feisthamel, Luke Good and Zack Carson. That group settled for seventh place (3:34.28).
