The Aurora girls track and field team got off to a blazing start in the Suburban League American Conference Tuesday.

The host Greenmen earned victories over Barberton (130-7) and Kent Roosevelt (86-50) at Veterans Stadium.

Leah Angelo captured wins over both teams with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches in the high jump.

Corinne Henderson also triumphed against both teams in the pole vault (10 feet).

Other winners for Aurora were Lauren Tincher in the long jump (16-1); the 3,200-meter relay team of Katy Fellenstein, Stephanie Lubin, Karsen Zabell and Madeline Schmitt (11:02.1); Morgan Schmitt in the 1,600 (5:47); the 400 relay team or Julia Brezovec, Jane Puzder, Celeste Conley and Tincher (52.3); Caitlin Hensley in the 400 (52.7); Madeline Schmitt in the 800 (2:40); Brezovec in the 200 (26.2); and Zabell in the 3,200 (12:55); and the 1,600 relay team of Elizabeth Barto, Skylar Joslyn, Puzder and Tincher (4:35).

Placing second were Hensley in the 100 hurdles (16.47); Brezovec in the 100 (12.73); Fellenstein in the 1,600 (5:55); Joslyn in the 400 (1:08.8); Victoria Blechschmid in the 300 hurdles (53.9); and Mikayla Jones in the 800 (2:44).

Capturing third were Evealyn Gainer in the discus (26-4); Tincher in the 100 (12.8); Elizabeth Keller in the 1,600 (6:04); Stephanie Lubin in the 800 (2:44.7); and Puzder in the 200 (28.1).
