The Tallmadge softball team got the result it wanted in dramatic fashion.
But the Blue Devils paid a price for it.
Tallmadge improved to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the Suburban League American Conference after earning a come-from-behind 9-8 victory over host Barberton Tuesday.
Trailing 8-5, the Blue Devils scored four runs in the top of the seventh. Gia Marfy had the game-winning hit. She smacked a two-run double to plate the go-ahead run.
However, Emily Pratt, the team’s ace and middle-of-the-order threat, was removed from the game due to an injury.
Hallie Mullett pitched all seven innings for Tallmadge. She struck out six and walked just one batter. She allowed just one earned run.
Marfy finished with three hits and also scored a run. Katie Rinehart added three hits and an RBI and Paige Leitner had three hits and a run scored for the Blue Devils.
Jordyn Severns had two hits, including a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs and Mullett had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for Tallmadge, which finished with 18 hits and six errors.
Kennedy Rorar also had a productive day for the Blue Devils. She had a single, two runs scored and three RBIs. Autumn Malicoat added a key triple and scored two runs.
