The host Aurora baseball team scored eight runs in the first inning and didn’t look back en route to a 13-3 victory over Highland Monday.

The game was called after 4 1/2 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

The Greenmen, who improved to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the Suburban League American Conference, finished with 10 hits and no errors and the Hornets had four hits and no errors.

Starter Justin Demassimo got the win on the mound. He pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed two hits and no runs. He finished with two strikeouts and zero walks.

Chase Gerbrick and Michael Carpenter each had two hits and a run scored. Carpenter drove in three runs and Gerbrick had two RBIs for Aurora.

Cooper Bizjak smacked a single and drove in two runs and Will Carpenter had a double, two RBIs and a run scored for the Greenmen.
