The Hudson girls track and field team finished seventh with 54.5 points at the 16-team Medina Relays Saturday.

Medina won the competition with 98 points and Twinsburg (74.5) and Highland (72) placed second and third, respectively.

"This was a fantastic day for the team as nearly every girl achieved a personal-best result for the season," Explorers head coach Jeff Hildebrand said.

"The coaches chose to attend this meet as we knew that it would be highly competitive and challenge the team to really push themselves.

"This meet had a lot of speed and talent from northeast Ohio and that is exactly the kind of level we wanted them to experience.

With the goal of peaking for the big meets in May, the progress the girls have shown overall is very encouraging."

The high-jump trio of Molly Stecker, Morgan Lindow and Abigail Young captured first place with a total distance of 14 feet, 6 inches. Stecker won the overall competition with a leap of 5-6.

The 6,400-meter team of Sydney Gallagher, Sarah Weldon, Emmaline Hannan and Brenna Beucler took second in 22:09.13.

Also capturing second was the 3,200 quartet of Hannan, Riley Gaynor, Jordan Hopgood and Beucler (10:02.22).
