The Aurora softball team made a smashing 2019 debut Tuesday on the road.

The Greenmen earned a 13-3 victory over Suburban League American Conference rival Theodore Roosevelt in Kent.

The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Starter Rachael Dudziak pitched three scoreless innings to get the win in the circle. She also had two hits at the plate.

Aurora finished with 17 hits and two errors. The Rough Riders had four hits and three errors.

The Greenmen scored two runs in the first, five in the second and six in the fourth to take a 13-0 lead. Roosevelt scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fourth.

A total of 10 players had at least one hit for Aurora.

Becca Crawford led the way with three hits and Aleese Angelo smacked two hits and rove in four runs. Julia Mazanec had two hits and scored three runs.

Also getting two hits apiece for the Greenmen were Jessica Pajek and Ariane Ugran.

Freshmen Kayla Ring and Hannah Wilson contributed base hits in their first varsity at bats for Aurora.
