The Hudson wrestling team concluded its regular season with two victories.
The host Explorers improved to 7-4 in dual matches and finished 4-3 in the Suburban League National Conference with wins over conference rival Cuyahoga Falls (66-8) along with Massillon Jackson (37-27) Wednesday at Ray "Buck" Hyser Gymnasium.
"This group of guys has shown consistent improvement and has a really positive team culture that is pulling everyone together," Hudson head coach Joe Caniglia said. "Our JVs [junior varsity] have had a great deal of success and our varsity guys keep improving. Our guys are being aggressive and making good things happen.
Against the Black Tigers, the Explorers got pins from Will Davis (1 minute, 47 seconds at 126 pounds), Aidan McStay (3:00 at 138) and Shane McGinnis (47 seconds at 195).
Hudson’s wins by decision came from Michael Mileski (4-1 at 132) and Gavin Wervey (10-8 at 145). The Explorers also got an easy 42 points, thanks to seven forfeits.
Against the Polar Bears, Hudson three straight losses in the lighter weights to win.
Davis (3:42 at 126), John Sweet (1:48 at 160) and McGinnis (1:29 at 195) pinned their opponents and McStay (20-5 at 138) and Michael Caniglia (17-0 at 170) earned technical falls.
Jacob Peters scored a 6-1 decision and the Explorers also earned a forfeit win.
"Will had two pins, which was great to see," Coach Caniglia said. "Aidan was up eight at the end of the second period and he kicked it into high gear in the third period to score six takedowns, which was a huge boost for the team."
