The host Hudson girls basketball team dropped to 8-12 on the season after losing to Suburban League crossover rival Highland 46-41 Saturday at Ray "Buck" Hyser Gymnasium.

The Hornets led 16-10 after the first quarter and took full command with a 10-0 run to start the third period. The Explorers made a run to take the lead with about two minutes left in the game.

Anastasia Lawler, who made four 3-pointers for a team-high 12 points, made three triples during the spurt and Kate Orazen scored on an up-an-under move to put Hudson ahead.

However, Highland made a 3-pointer to regain the lead and regained control of the contest by converting free throws down the stretch.

Sarah Hinkle added seven points for the Explorers. Kendall McCormick scored a game-high 17 points for Highland (13-7).
