The Aurora girls swimming and diving team finished sixth with 151 points at a Division I sectional meet Saturday at the University of Akron’s Oliver Ocasek Natatorium.
Hudson easily won the 14-team competition with 558 points. Brecksville-Broadview Heights (365) and Akron Firestone (266.5) placed second and third, respectively.
Several Greenmen advanced to the district competition, which is scheduled to take place Saturday at Cleveland State University’s Robert F. Busbey Natatorium. Swimming is set to begin at noon.
The 200 medley relay team of Olivia Pisano, Sydney Manderbach, Maeve Russell and Julia Brezovec finished fifth in 1:55.93.
Pisano was the runner-up in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.16 seconds. He also placed fifth in the 100 butterfly in 59.97 seconds.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Brezovec, Elizabeth Barto, Madeline Schmitt and Maeve Russell captured sixth in 1:45.12.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Pisano, Molly Russell, Barto and Schmitt captured ninth (3:53.23).
Maeve Russell also qualified in two other events. She advanced in the 200 IM (12th, 2:23.15) and the 100 backstroke (14th, 1:05.6).
Molly Russell qualified for the district competition in the 500 freestyle (16th, 5:41.45).
Aurora also had two divers advance Feb. 6.
Victoria Blechschmid and Kylie Palian finished fifth and sixth, respectively, to qualify. Blechschmid scored 262.05 points and Palian finished with 256.65 points.
They are scheduled to dive at a district meet Thursday at Cleveland State. Diving is set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
