The Aurora boys swimming and diving team had a stellar performance at a Division II sectional meet Friday at the University of Akron’s Oliver Ocasek Natatorium.

The Greenmen finished fourth out of 22 teams with 172 points. Canfield won the competition with 306 points and Rocky River (260) and Akron Archbishop Hoban (199.5) captured second and third, respectively.

Several swimmers advanced to the district competition, which is scheduled to take place Friday at Cleveland State University’s Robert F. Busbey Natatorium. Swimming is set to begin at 3 p.m.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Jacob Good, Collin Sapochetti, Connor Zamary and Kyle Reuhr advanced with a fourth-place time of 1 minute, 48.52 seconds.

Good also captured fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:00.62) and seventh in the 200 IM (2:11.7).

Sapochetti added an eighth-place time of 1:07.38 in the 100 breaststroke.

The 200 freestyle team of Zamary, John Hybil, Nathan Meyer and Reuhr finished fifth in 1:34.84.

The 400 freestyle team of Hybil, Alex Bailey, Good and Meyer captured seventh in 3:36.4 to advance.

Hybil also qualified for the district competition in the 100 breaststroke (10th, 1;08.3) and the 100 freestyle (12th, 52.83).

Bailey advanced in the 100 butterfly (ninth, 58.44) and the 200 IM (10th, 2:13.12). Zamary punched his ticket to Cleveland in the 100 butterfly (10th, 58.48) and 50 freestyle (12th, 23.81).

Bender placed 11th in the 500 freestyle (5:37.44) to advance. Reuhr qualified in the 100 freestyle (14th, 53.26).

Drew Albrecht is scheduled to dive at a district competition Wednesday at Cleveland State. Diving is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
