When it’s all said and done, the Hudson girls bowling team might have faced the best squad in the state.

As a result, the Explorers had no choice but to take their lumps.

Hudson dropped to 8-4 overall and 6-3 in the Suburban League after losing to powerful Stow-Munroe Falls 2,720-1,880 Wednesday at Sto-Kent Family Entertainment in Stow.

The boys fell to 2-11 overall and 2-8 in the league after suffering a 2,488-2,291 defeat.

Despite these setbacks, Explorers head coach John Brockway certainly enjoyed the well-attended match that featured plenty of love for both teams.

"We had a great crowd there to celebrate 16 total seniors, eight from each school," he said. "The Stow girls team is the best I've ever seen. They've shot 2,751 and 2,720 in their last two matches, which is over 210 per game. Our girls bowled OK, but it's really hard to compete with a team at that level."

Four members of the Stow girls team rolled 400-plus series. Kayla Flake led the way with a 484 series.

Katie Titmas paced Hudson with scores of 155 and 149, respectively. Also bowling for the Explorers were Alyssa Germano (155 and 138), Ariana Ellis (160 and 130), Natalie Gilles (138 and 150) and Olivia Norton (138 and 138).

Jay Boyden led the boys team with scores of 210 and 223. His second game featured seven consecutive strikes.

Logan Loeffler continued his stellar play with games of 225 and 221. Also competing for Hudson were Austin Fernando (163 and 151), Trey Grega (148 and 159) and Andrew Fernando (150 and 137).

Stow’s boys earned a 2,193-1,606 win in the junior varsity match. However, the Explorers won the the girls’ JV match 1,393-1,260.
