It took a full two months.
But the epic drought has finally come to an end.
The Western Reserve Academy girls basketball team ended its 12-game losing streak in emphatic fashion with a convincing 53-30 victory over Mentor Christian.
The contest took place Friday at the Murdough Athletic Center’s Memorial Gym. It was the Pioneers’ first win since they defeated John Adams 39-30 Dec. 1 in Cleveland.
Of the nine players who saw court time for Reserve, seven of them scored.
Jill Reef led the way with 17 points and Josie Spano and Megan Hovan, who suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter, each had 10 points for WRA.
Ella Siegenthaler added eight points for the Pioneers, who stormed out of the gates to take an 18-2 first-quarter lead and didn’t look back.
