The Aurora ice hockey team captured its fourth straight win, defeating Mayfield 10-0 Saturday at Gilmour Academy Ice arena in Gates Mills.
With the win, the Greenmen improved to 6-3 in the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League Blue North division and 11-7 overall.
Aurora took command early once again, outscoring the Wildcats 4-0 in the first period, then adding five more in the second and one more in the final period.
Juniors Maxx Goldston and Jack McElwee and sophomore Cameron Mullin each had four points, senior Jack Pfiffner, sophomore David Brandes and freshman Mike Mancine had two points apiece. Senior Evan Dockman and juniors Patrick Murray and Sevi Sharrotta had one point apiece as well.
Freshman Max Trem also added his first career goal.
Sophomore Nolan Sullivan made eight saves in the win for the Greenmen.
Kevin Bluffestone stopped 21 Aurora shots in goal for Mayfield, as the Wildcats fell to 2-10 in the Blue North division and 3-14-1 overall.
The win put Aurora on the brink of a postseason Baron Cup III playoff berth for the fourth consecutive year
If the Greenmen win just one of its four remaining division games or if Lakewood High School loses just one of its four remaining league games, Aurora would clinch at least fourth place in the division standings and ensure an automatic bid in the Baron Cup III postseason tournament.
