Five Hudson residents from Flytz Gymnastics in Cuyahoga Falls competed at the Graffiti Invitational Jan. 4-6 in Niagara Falls, New York.

Annie Lawrence, a Level 3 gymnast, placed first on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.45, third on the balance beam with an 8.85 and first on the floor exercise with a season-best score of 9.625. As a result of her performances, she placed first in the all-around competition with a score of 36.725.

Level 3 teammate Avery Willis finished first on beam with a 9.05. Willis and Lawrence helped their undefeated team to their third first-place win.

Level 6 gymnast Leah Carino captured second on the bars with an 8.975, first on the floor with a stellar 9.675 and third in the all-around standings with a 35.825. Carino helped her team to a third-place finish.

Xcel Gold gymnast Hailey Benoit won the balance-beam competition with a season-best score of 9.35. Teammate Sydnee Sherman placed second on the floor with her season-best score of 9.475.

Flytz Xcel Silver gymnast Isabella Dooley won a special award at this meet, the Cindy Sielski Memorial Award.

This scholarship award is presented to the athlete who has overcome obstacles and has an outstanding attitude toward the sport of gymnastics.

Dooley was nominated by her coaches and chosen by the meet officials and judges out of hundreds of gymnasts at the meet.
