Scoring early and often, the Twinsburg ice hockey squad produced a 10-0 shutout win over Garfield Heights.
Entering his ninth season as the Tigers head coach, Jim DiRosa liked the win at Garfield Heights Friday.
"We were able to use our depth to establish ourselves in the offensive zone and the team spread the offense around tonight," DiRosa said after the win.
Twinsburg starting scoring early with sophomore Anthony Sciarabba finding the back of the net just 26 seconds into the game for first of four goals in a career game. He also had two assists.
"Anthony registered a natural hat trick [three straight goals] in just 1:48 into the game," said the coach.
"Antonio Bennardo scored with Jason Buell getting the helper, and Antonio had a solid game," he added.
Next to light the lamp for Twinsburg was senior captain Troy Sutliff on a pass from Sciarabba on the primary assist with Buell getting the secondary assist.
"That was a nifty feed by Sciarabba," DiRosa said.
Sutliff would add another goal in the second period while junior Nick Whitelaw would make it 6-0 on an assist from Bennardo.
Senior captain Carson Sayavich would finish out the first period scoring with Sciarabba assisting. The second period would see Sutliff, Sciarabba and Sayavich add to the scoring with Whitelaw getting an assist on Sayavich’s second tally.
"We worked hard on passing this week and we did a job of finding the open player," DiRosa said.
Senior keeper and team captain Hannah Zochowski registered a shutout in the nets for Twinsburg.
