After a two-point win over winless Brecksville in week seven, the Nordonia football team had to be leery of another upset-minded squad as it traveled to Cuyahoga Falls Friday.

Unfortunately for the Black Tigers, the Knights were alert this week, as Nordonia ran away with a 48-12 win at Clifford Stadium.

Nordonia improved to 7-1, 4-1 in the Suburban League National Conference, while Falls dropped to 1-6, 1-4 in the National Conference.

On a rainy night at Clifford Stadium, Nordonia’s offense got rolling early. Quarterback Robbie Levak threw for three first-half touchdowns and ran for another, giving the Knights a 27-0 lead at halftime.

Levak went 15-of-27 for 206 yards and four touchdowns through the air, while running six times for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Nyles Beverly led Nordonia’s rushing attack with 90 yards on just four carries. Eight different Knights contributed to a hight night on the ground, as Nordonia finished with 252-122 advantage in rushing yards. Nick Peter ran in a 45-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

The bright spot on the night for Falls was the return of quarterback Tyler Vassalotti. Vassalotti accounted for nearly all of Falls’ offense, as he went 22-of-34 for 162 yards with one touchdown and one interception through the air to go with 121 yards rushing on 33 carreis.

Vassalotti ran in 1-yard touchdown run and tossed a 4-yard touchdown pass to Eric Rosiak in the third quarter. However, Vassalotti also gave up a pick six in the fourth quarter, as Nordonia’s Julius Jones returned an interception 51 yards to round out the scoring.

Nordonia will host North Royalton Friday at Boliantz Stadium, while Cuyahoga Falls will travel to Stow-Munroe Falls next Friday at 7 p.m.
