Eight games is a lot of games.

And one month is a lot of time.

Regardless, the Western Reserve Academy girls soccer team is back in the winner’s circle after a long hiatus.

The Pioneers improved to 2-9-1 in 2018 after earning a 3-0 victory over Our Lady of the Elms Wednesday in Akron.

The loss ended a seven-match streak that included zero wins. Reserve had a six-game losing streak prior to settling for a draw with Linsly (W. Va.) last month.

WRA then lost its next match before finally prevailing on the road. The Pioneers’ last victory took place Sept. 3 when the defeated River View 2-1 in Warsaw.

Hudson resident Meghan Hovan had a goal and two assists and Audrey Rhea of Hudson also found the net. Olivia Hrivnak added a goal and Catherine Brannon had an assist.

Pioneers’ goalkeeper Sophia Bluso made three saves. Reserve had a convincing 21-3 advantage in total shots. Both teams had three corner kicks.
