Art Wright Stadium in Wadsworth is one of the toughest places to play in Northeast Ohio and has not been kind to Nordonia over the years.
The Knights put up a good fight Friday vs. Wadsworth, but the Grizzlies handed Nordonia their first loss of the season 35-25, as a 12-yard touchdown run from Wadsworth’s Dominic Loparo with 2:54 left iced the game.
Nordonia (3-1, 0-1 in the Suburban League National Conference) was outrushed 306-115 by the Grizzlies, although running back Nyles Beverly finished with 55 yards and two touchdowns for the Knights.
Quarterback Robby Levak went 19-of-34 for 195 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Receiver Jordan Jones had a big game with nine catches for 136 yards and a touchdown.
Beverly ran in a 4-yard touchdown and caught a two-point conversion pass from Levak to cut Wadsworth’s lead to 28-25 with 6:24 left in the game, but Nordonia got no closer.
Nordonia will return to Boliantz Stadium Friday to take on Hudson at 7 p.m.
