The Hudson girls track and field team is in first place with 26 points after the first day of the 11-team Nordonia Division I district meet Wednesday at Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.
The competition is scheduled to resume Friday at 3:30 p.m.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Cameron Bujaucius, Kalli Barrett, Brenna Beucler and Emily Akin won with a time of 9:37.7.
Molly Stecker also triumphed with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches in the high jump. Teammate Brynn Meyer took third (5 feet).
The top four athletes in each event and top four relay teams advanced to the regional competition, which is scheduled to take place next Wednesday and May 25 at Austintown-Fitch High School. The competition is set to begin at 5 p.m. both days.
Qualifying for Friday’s finals are Tori Shriver and Sydney Gallagher in the 100 and 300 hurdles; the 800 relay team of Jenna Reitenbach, Ang Giaimo, Lauren Heidler and Brynn Strawbridge; the 400 relay team of Giaimo, Lauren Heidler, Abby Petty and Reitenbach; Heidler in the 800; and the 1,600 relay team of Gallagher, Jordan Hopgood, Barrett and Akin.
