Tallmadge senior Sara Johnson turned in two season-best performances in the Suburban League Championships, which concluded May 10 at Nordonia High School’s Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.

Johnson’s season bests were second-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (12.81 seconds) and the 200 (26.1). Sophomore Mabinty Kromah placed fifth (13.26) in the 100 and eighth (27.56) in the 200.

Johnson also was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 5 1/4 inches. Sophomore Jill Catalano finished third with a personal-best leap of 16-3.

"Sara was up against some really good competition in both the long jump and the 100 and 200," Lady Blue Devils head coach Mike Srodawa said. "In the 200, she was pretty close to catching the first-place girl. She’s looking good."

Johnson and Kromah teamed with senior Madison Tasich and freshman Maddie Arnold to finish third in the 400 relay with a time of 51.62.

Overall, Tallmadge finished fourth in the seven-team American Conference with 93 points.

Highland won the competition with 179 points. Copley finished second with 125 points and Aurora took third with 109 points.

"I figured we’d be in the third- or fourth-place range," Srodawa said. "We had quite a few kids finish in the top three or four. We had several events in which we had multiple kids score and any time you can do that, it’s pretty impressive."

Junior Lauren Moses finished third in the pole vault with a vault of 9-6. Freshman Anna Siesel lost a tiebreaker to place sixth with a personal-best vault of 8-0.

"This was the second meet in a row where Lauren vaulted 9-6, so she’s ready to break that 10-foot barrier," Srodawa said. "She’s looking pretty good."

Sophomore Kenna Loveless finished third in both the 1,600 (5:31.64) and 3,200 (12:17.42). Freshman Kelsey Bellman took eighth in the 3,200 (13:21.94).

"Kenna ran really good races," Srodawa said. "It was really tough competition. She’s running well right now."

Sophomores Ravyn Edge and Katie Hussing and freshmen Mackenzie Moran and Emma Ryder combined to finish third in the 3,200 relay with a season-best clocking of 10:30.08.

Tasich finished fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.23, while senior Lauren Bradshaw placed fourth in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 32-10.

Kromah, Arnold, Catalano and Tasich joined forces to finish fourth in the 800 relay with a time of 1:50.28.

In the discus, freshman Lauren Adolph won a tiebreaker to place sixth with a personal-best toss of 97-8.

Edge, Tasich, Moran and sophomore Katie Seeker finished sixth (4:34.61) in the 1,600 relay.

Seeker lost a tiebreaker to place seventh (4-8) in the high jump and Moran placed eighth (2:42.38) in the 800.

Tallmadge is scheduled to compete in the Bedford Division II district meet Thursday (4 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m.).
