In recent years, one squad has been an absolute thorn in the Hudson boys lacrosse team’s side more than anyone else.

That would be St. Ignatius.

Unfortunately for the Explorers, they continue to be the Wildcats’ favorite whipping boy.

Hudson fell to 8-3 in 2018 after losing to St. Ignatius 15-8 Wednesday at Wasmer Field in Cleveland.

The 2017 Division I state runner-up Wildcats, who led 9-4 at halftime, improved to 9-5.

Brady Ludewig led the Explorers with three goals and Anthony Rightnour had a goal and two assists for Hudson, which lost to the Wildcats in a 2017 regional semifinal contest.

Mason Prisk, Merrick Widdoes, Danny Saxon and Pat Burdett each scored for the Explorers and Blake Lori had an assist.

Hudson goalie Matt Withem made 16 saves between the pipes.

St. Ignatius outshot the Explorers 37-27 and won 18 of 26 face-offs. Hudson also committed 10 penalties.

The Explorers’ junior varsity team dropped to 6-4 on the season after suffering a 9-0 defeat.
