The Aurora baseball team’s Suburban League American Conference title hopes took a serious hit Thursday.
The host Greenmen fell to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference after losing to Highland 5-4 at Ed Sherwin Field.
The Hornets (7-6) scored three runs to take a 5-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Both teams had seven hits and four errors.
Reliever Trevor Mitch, who entered the game in the fifth inning, took the loss in relief. Starter Zach Elsawy allowed zero earned runs and finished with six strikeouts in 4-? innings of work for Aurora.
Carter Gerbrick had a double and two runs scored and Evan Fromwiller had two hits and a run scored for the Greenmen.
Jake Loudon had a single, a run scored and an RBI and Jacob Blue and Will Carpenter each had a single and an RBI for Aurora.
