Aurora High School's varsity ice hockey team got back to its winning ways on Saturday afternoon by routing Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 10-0 at the Kent State University Ice Arena.The win sets up a showdown for the title tonight (Wed-nesday) at the Pond against North Canton Hoover. The initial face off is at 7:05 p.m.The Greenmen and Vikings sit on top of the Blue East Division with 8-0-1 records after tying 1-1 in an earlier divisional contest in Canton.In the triumph over CVCA, Mike Altmann paced the locals with 6 points on 2 goals and 4 assists. Robert Walker, Matt Rausch and Jonathon Deacon also scored 2 goals.Joe Lawrie contributed a goal and 4 assists, and Jake Heacox scored the other goal.The squad got off to a quick start, hitting the Royals for 5 first-period goals, then coming back for 4 more in the second stanza.The final score halfway through the third period ended the game on the 10-goal mercy rule.Goaltender Paul Ridley won his fourth game without a loss and earned his third shutout in the process by turning back all 12 CVCA shots. AHS peppered the Royal net with 53 shots.After tonight's game against Hoover, the team will square off against division foe Kenston on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Pond, then travels to Elyria for an 8 p.m. contest against Midview on Sunday.
