will be asked this November to vote on changes to our charter.
As a member of the charter review commission for the past 20 years, I am asking voters to vote "no" on the proposal changing the presiding officer on Council from mayor to Council president. This has worked for the past 40 years, so why change now? Politics? The vote by members of the committee was 4-3 to put this on the ballot.
The next issue would remove the mayor and Council member from the planning commission and replace them with electors from the city.
Again, why change something that has worked well for the past 40 years? Politics? Again, the vote by members of the committee was 4-3 to put this on the ballot.
Voters should check out what I am saying because what is passed in November will be the way our city is run for the next five years.
