Betty Alda Bratten passed from this world into the next at 2:14 a.m., July 6, 2020.
Her husband, Arthur, preceded her in death 40 years ago (August of 1980). Born June 8, 1929, Betty was the daughter of Hal and Laura Padgett. At age 91, Betty had accomplished many things in this world, but she was most proud of her 6 sons: David, Michael (Correne), Timothy (Laurie), Darryl (Sharon), Richard (Laurie) and Thomas (Joanne). A 7th son, Lawrence Eugene, died while less than a day old.
As proud as Betty was of her boys, she delighted even more so in her grandchildren: Justin, Joel, Kelly, Brian, Julie, Daniel, Jason, Tanya, Cody, Chelsea, Adam and Bo. 4 grandchildren preceded her in death: Tim (Jr), Ethan, Nathan, and Evan. And what joy her great-grandchildren brought to her, late in life: William, Katelyn, Ashley, Angela, Ben, Lauren, Audrey, Ehren, Evan, Lucas, Evelyn, Cameron, and Ariah.
Betty enjoyed all the ballgames and scouting she could get! She also enjoyed interior decorating, real estate, teaching at Hondros College (in her 70’s!), playing the piano & guitar, and writing for the local Milford Advertiser. She was ready to see Jesus. Her love for the Word, especially the Old Testament prophets, continued to grow as she got older. And now she is experiencing what the “Lord has promised to those who love him.”
The family wishes to thank the staff of Stow-Glen Retirement Village for their love and caring while Mom was part of their family.
There will be no memorial service for the public. The family has chosen, instead, to celebrate her life by getting together and revisiting stories of their lives in the Bratten household. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Mom’s name to a charity of your choice. The Apostle Paul said, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!” Her sons, all believers in the salvation by Jesus Christ, simply say: “We love you, Mom. And we’ll see you later.” (SS, 7/19/20)
