AURORA - Tanya Sue Miller Verga, age 68, of Aurora, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home on June 28, 2020 following a long battle with ALS. She is survived by her husband John, mother Zonia (nee Ludwig) Miller, brother Drew (Faith) of Coshocton, brother Brook (Sandra) of Brunswick, nephew Campbell (Miranda) and her kids with paws loving puppies Cookie and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her father James B. Miller in 2002 from the same incurable disease.
Her mother was an RN supervisor at Alliance City Hospital and Tanya graduated from the Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing at Akron City Hospital, a three year diploma program, in 1973. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike Ohio in 1990. Her distinguished career in nursing spanned over 43 years specializing in cardiovascular medicine at the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital.
She worked in open heart intensive care, instructor in coronary intensive care, and the electrophysiology lab retiring in 2015 from Summa Health in Akron as a pacemaker and ICD nurse She served on the Board of the American College of Cardiology Ohio Chapter and lobbied in Washington D.C and Columbus, Ohio for health care reform.
The family would like to thank the Cleveland ALS Clinic Team, Cleveland Clinic Hospice, Caretenders Home Health Care, and Dr. Samina Yunus, CCF, for their support and care over the past two years.
We will miss her spirit and dedication to her patients. “To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die. She will always be on our minds and forever in our hearts.”
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the ALS Association of Northern Ohio, 6155 Rockside Rd, Independence Ohio 44131 or to your favorite Animal Rescue Shelter.
Because of the Covid Pandemic a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
