NORTHFIELD - James ‘Jim’ R. Robinson, 85, of Northfield, Ohio passed away June 4, 2020 at his home after a long illness.
Jim was born August 17, 1934 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta. He graduated from Dexter City High School in 1952 and Marietta College in 1958.
Jim married his best friend, Gloria Jean Ogle August 18, 1956, and they were married almost 64 years. They enjoyed taking various car trips through the United States on their vacations, as well as, flying to California to visit their daughter and granddaughter. They also enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas.
Jim worked in retail sales and security. He was a scale master for Aluminum Smelting for over 15 years. In 1995, he started working with his son, Jerry, who owned Continental Boring Inc. Jim was very proud of his family. He and Gloria took their granddaughter to Disneyland many times when she was young and many trips to Cedar Point with his own children. Jim liked sports and enjoyed watching them on TV.
A lifelong Methodist, Jim belonged to the Macedonia Methodist Church for over 50 years. Jim lived in Northfield Center since 1962. He loved cats and dogs, with a fondness for golden retrievers, of which he had 3.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean (Ogle) Robinson; daughter, Diana Lynn Davies; granddaughter, Danielle Jean Davies, of Irvine, CA.; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward and Mary Jane Ogle, of Kansas, MO., Joan and Gary Sabo, of Granville, Ohio, Joyce Ogle and Tom McElfresh; many nephews, nieces; great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace D. and George G. Robinson; brothers, Jack and Bernard; sister, Beverly J. Hutchinson; three children, James Robert, Jerry R. and Kimberly Dawn. Jim also had a sister that he never saw or knew her name. Extended family who preceded him in death, his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Ogle; sister and brother-in-law, Richard (Dick) Hutchenson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The United Methodist Church of Macedonia Ohio or the Humane Society of Summit County in Jim's memory. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
