Nancy E. Klar

Nancy E. Klar

Hudson - Nancy E. Klar, (nee Pickering) 87, a long-time resident of Hudson, Ohio passed away on March 26, 2021. Nancy was a generous, kind-hearted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Family and friends meant everything to her and she touched many lives in her 87 years. She had a long and fulfilling life and will be missed by many.

Nancy was born and raised in Cleveland, Oh, graduated from John Adams High School and was employed as a stenographer by the Nickel Plate Railroad in Cleveland. She met the love of her life, Richard, at Harshaw Chemical Co. where they were both employed. Married for 52 years, they raised 4 children. Together they were very active in the Hudson community.

Nancy did a bit of everything! From secretary at Hudson United Methodist Church, den mother for scouts, receptionist at a local doctor's office, parent volunteer in the band office at Hudson High, chaperone at Band Camp, and assisting Richard when he was President of the Music Association, she wore many hats. She loved watching her children and grandchildren perform in the Swing Marching Band and attended all their band and choir performances.

Her many hobbies included sewing, knitting, cross stitching, cooking, playing bridge, traveling, volunteering, helping to organize her class reunions, cheering on the Indians, Cavs, and OSU football. Her absolute favorites were reading and shopping! She had quite the eye for clothing and fashion and was always impeccably dressed! In the early 80's she founded and opened her own woman's clothing store, Sarah Bradford, named after her grandmother. That eye for fashion served her well as she went on to franchise the business in Chagrin Falls and Rocky River. She enjoyed going on buying trips to NYC and Dallas. She retired and sold the business after 10+ yrs.

Nancy spent her later years traveling with Richard to many places in Europe, wintering in Phoenix where they had a second home and spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren supporting them in all that they did.

Preceding Nancy in death are her parents Thomas W & Lillian Pickering, brother William, & husband Richard E. Klar. Nancy, is survived by her children, Terri (Ralph) Jordan of Tallmadge, Richard (Carol) of Spokane, Washington, Judith (Joseph) of Hudson, David of Goodyear Arizona; and three grandchildren, Brian (Julia) Jordan of Willis, Texas; Thomas (Hannah) McCarthy of Hilliard, Ohio; and Elizabeth McCarthy of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will take place at Markillie Cemetery in Hudson. Nancy's family is planning a celebration of life party at a later date. The family is asking for donations to be made in her name to the Hudson High School Music Association. P.O Box 254 Hudson, Ohio 44236. Arrangements made by Donovan Funeral Home, Tallmadge.
