Joan L. Schultz
Joan L. Schultz, (nee Lancaster) 75, of Hudson, OH, passed away on March 19, 2021. Smart, generous, accomplished, and gregarious, Joan found and made community wherever she traveled. Whether it was cruising the Great Lakes on a tall ship with her husband Jon Eric, attending a knitting circle or stitchery competition, cheering on Cleveland sports teams, or celebrating at home with family and friends, she was in her element.
Cooking, the needle arts, and many kinds of handicrafts inspired her to express her abundant creativity throughout her life. She constantly challenged herself and so joined the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild, participating in committees, competing in showcases, and winning ribbons in multiple categories over the years. She also loved to pass on her knowledge to others. Joan could be found teaching stitching during the Guild's showcase in the Children's Tent and shared her love of cooking with her children and grandchildren.
Preceding Joan in death are her parents Vic and Dodie, and her father-in-law Frank and her mother-in-law Isabelle. Joan is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jon Eric; her children, Kirsten and Peter; her trickster of a brother Reg; her cherished partner-in-crime and sister Sue; her treasured grandchildren Riley and Parker; her sister-in-law Käthe; her son-in-law Leigh; her daughter-in-law Laurie; her nephew Scott; her nieces Michelle, Amy, Cathy, Amanda, and Sydney; and numerous cousins, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces.
A private graveside service was held at Markillie Cemetery in Hudson on Wednesday. Joan's family is planning a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joan may be mailed to the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild, c/o Stan Hywet, Hall & Gardens, 714 N. Portage Path, Akron, OH 44303; or submitted via the Stan Hywet Annual Fund (www.stanhywet.org/donate). Arrangements by Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, Hudson, OH.
