Elaine Ann Flaherty
ELAINE ANN FLAHERTY (nee Garsig), age 80, passed away on February 21, 2021 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born October 25, 1940 in Cleveland, OH, to the late John and Sophie Garsig. Beloved wife of Jim Flaherty for 60 wonderful years. She was a graduate of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Grade School and Marymount High School, Class of 1957. Proud mother of Charlotte Detelich (Steve), Jeffrey (Joyce), and Patrick (Annie). Dear grandmother of Katie McKinney (Colton), Andrea Detelich, Stevie Detelich, Jacqui Ricchiuti (Bruno), Jeffrey, Jessica, Jimmy, Hannah Blaise (Olivier), Laree Schouweiler (Russell), Emily Haupert (Joe). Loving great grandmother of Steve, Blake & Westen McKinney, Ella & Brody Flaherty, Giuliana & Mia Ricchiuti, Aiden, Layla & Evie Haupert, Declan, Isla & Kit Schouweiler. Dear sister of Cindy Jeric (James). Elaine lived in Macedonia most of her life. She was a homemaker and went back to work later in life at W. J. Flaherty Insurance, Maple Heights, OH. She loved playing bridge in various bridge groups and made many friendships over the years that brought her so much happiness. She got much joy from traveling, watching the Cleveland Indians play and visiting casinos to play the slot machines. Her truest joy in life was spending time with her family- her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. A special thanks to her caregivers in her final months who were true angels on earth- Allie Fritsch, Jody LaTampa and Lindsay Pramik. Her Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday February 27, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Macedonia, OH. Interment at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield, OH.
