Karen Ann Hoover
Karen Ann Hoover passed away peacefully on January 28, 2021 with family at her side.
Born in Pennsylvania on February 25, 1954 to Paul and Joanne Hoover, she was to be the only girl in a family of boys who watched over her until she left this earth.
She grew up in the Falls loving sports, games, swimming and high diving with her mom and friends at Waterworks Park. After graduating from Falls High, she went on to Hammel Business College and subsequently landed a job working at City Hall under Mayor Robert Quirk. It was a job she loved, but eventually her life's path took her to Washington D.C where she became Assistant, then Director, working for Maritime Services in an office overlooking the Potomac. In this capacity, she attended many fund raisers, meeting and mingling with politicians and celebrities. This was the perfect fit given Karen's witty, fun and outgoing personality. She would regale you with stories that would make you laugh so hard you would want to hear more. She was also beautiful, smart, independent, strong-willed and generous to a fault, always concerned for her family's well-being above her own.
After retiring, Karen moved back to the Falls where she had a special bond with her brother, Craig, and with her brother, Paul, until his passing. For the last year and a half, she lived with her brother, Gary, and his wife, Kathy, in Southern California. Karen was happy there and dearly loved their dog, Chewy.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Joanne, brother Paul and her "shining star," Jimmy. She leaves behind in heartbreak her brother Gary (Kathy) Hoover, brother Craig Hoover, nephew Lucas, niece Emily, "Sis" Barb Ayers, aunts and uncles Paul (Vickie) Baran, Pat (Etta) Albright, Rachel and Remy Chapman and many cousins. The Hoover family would like to thank Care/Choices Hospice for their compassionate care. Interment will take place at North Lawn Cemetery and a private memorial at a later date.
