Walter K. Chapman
Aurora - On January 5, 2021, Walter K. Chapman passed away after battling cancer. Walter was the loving husband of Diane Chapman; father of Kristin Chapman and Sam Chapman (Paulina); son of Ann Whitman Chapman and the late George B. Chapman Jr.; brother to George Chapman III (Kim), Rev. Geoffrey Chapman (Becca), Christopher Chapman (Monika), and Bishop Auxentios; brother-in-law to Thomas Petros Jr. (Martha), Dr. David Petros (Heather), Gerald Petros (Lori), Andrea (Michael De Philippo), and Richard Petros; and uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
He built his professional career as the 4th generation of Chapman and Chapman, working in employee benefits and retirement plan consulting with his father George as his guide and mentor. Over the years, he worked alongside his brothers George and Christopher, and in the last decade with his daughter Kristin. In 2020, Chapman and Chapman joined USI, an exciting step forward. He regarded his clients as friends and was proud to serve them.
Walter cared deeply about his community and was active in local organizations and clubs. He enjoyed playing racquet sports and golf with friends and family as well as landscaping and gardening. He served on different committees as a member of The Church in Aurora. A 30-year member and past president of the Cleveland Board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio, he found inspiration, friendship, and gratitude in the commitment of the leadership and children at the Clubs. His involvement with the Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Portage County allowed him to swing a hammer alongside volunteers as they completed home repairs for those in need. He spoke often of his gratitude and joy from participation in these organizations.
A private burial service was held at the Aurora Cemetery. The family will hold a Celebration of Walter's Life later in the year when it is safe for all to gather. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio or the Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Portage County.
