Richard M. Losey

Hudson - Richard (Dick) M. Losey, age 75, of Hudson passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He had earned a masters degree in business administration from Kent State University and was employed by Nestle Corporation for 36 years prior to his retirement. Family was the most important thing to Dick. A humble man, sincere in his faith and expression of it, he withheld nothing from those he loved best and gave generously of his time and talent to his children and grandchildren. Dick was a gifted wood worker who brought his tool box of patience, good humor, and skill to countless house projects - not just his own, but those of his children and many Habitat for Humanity homeowners now living in houses he helped construct - and is remembered fondly by his grandchildren for his help in the assembly of Veteran's Way Park, a play space aptly dubbed "Papa's playground." An avid golfer, Dick was a leading member of the St. Mary Lamb and men's club golf leagues, and shared a warm camaraderie with all his golfing buddies. Forever willing to lend a hand, to do any good he could do, no matter how small, and to be there for his family and friends - this is the legacy of love Dick leaves behind. He is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Bernice (nee Skiles) Losey and a brother, Howard Losey. Dick is survived by his beloved wife Kathy (nee Hirkala) Losey; his loving children, Brian (Gretchen) Losey of Bay Village, Amy (Dave) Henderson of Hudson and Mary (Colum) McKenna of Hudson; his dear grandchildren, Anna and Henry Losey, Emily, Nate and Abby Henderson, Gavin, Grace, Owen, Jack and Patrick McKenna and his siblings, Lorraine Garrison, Elva Wilson, Barbara Shoemaker, Marjorie Losey, Sharon Warren, Carolyn Stiff, Jannie Losey and Jimmy Losey. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 340 North Main Street, Hudson, Ohio. Masks and social distancing are required at church. The Mass will be streamed beginning at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 13 on the church's website (www.stmaryhudson.cc/livestream) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/stmaryhudson). Interment will be held privately at Markillie/St. Mary Cemetery in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Dick's name to The Vincent William Baran Charitable Fund at mightyvincent.org.
