Kathleen Ruth Gutowski

On Wednesday morning, December 16, 2020, Kathleen Ruth Gutowski went Home to her Savior after a valiant one-month long battle with uterine cancer.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 28, 1956. Kathy graduated from Twinsburg High School in 1974. After graduating, she was employed at Allstate and JCPenney. She then got her dream job as an Administrative Assistant with the Twinsburg City School District (1993-2012). Kathy's heart and desire was to help others. She particularly loved working with children. Her compassion was clearly felt and therefore she was both loved and respected by staff and students. In addition to working full-time, she also held part-time jobs. This enabled her to provide the best for her family. One of the most fun part-time jobs she held was working for Loss Prevention at Geauga Lake. She would enjoy her day at the amusement park with her sister or daughter completing tasks as an "undercover" patron. Kathy's longest held part-time job was with Kohl's (2007-2020). She loved talking with customers and providing assistance wherever she was needed. Her strong work ethic was admirable, and she was always known for going above and beyond. Having been recognized for her exceptional professional and personal skills, Kathy was chosen to train new employees. She participated in Kohl's Volunteer programs and fundraisers including Great Strides and Relay for Life. Kathy's greatest gifts in life were her beloved and precious daughters, Deanna and Danielle. Her family was equally loved and cherished. She always put others before herself. She gave of herself daily with love and without complaint, providing the best care for Deanna who lived with cystic fibrosis. Despite her dedicated care for Deanna and Deanna's numerous hospital stays, Kathy still made time to lovingly support Danielle, in the Singing Angels. This required countless hours including travel. Kathy's greatest delight was watching her daughters thrive and doing everything she could to bring them happiness. Kathy always made things special! She was known for giving the most thoughtful gifts and remembering little details to make things even more meaningful. Kathy was selfless and took pride in helping others as much as possible. When Deanna received a double lung transplant in 2012, she quit her full-time job and sold her home to move to another state to become Deanna's caregiver. Later in life, Kathy's greatest joy became her grandchildren, Eli and Delila. She felt blessed beyond measure! It was beautiful to watch the pure delight and love she held for them. She treasured every moment she spent with them. In addition to having fun with her grandchildren, some of Kathy's favorite pastimes were going on adventures with her sister, Cheryl; going out to eat with her family; spending time sharing stories and drinking hot tea with her parents, Doris and Smitty; and watching cooking shows with her daughter, Danielle. To know Kathy was to be blessed with her kindness, generosity, love, and selflessness.

Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter, Deanna Gutowski.

She is survived by her daughter, Danielle (Jim) Arnold; grandson, Eli; granddaughter, Delila; father, Smitty (Irwin) Turnbull; mother, Doris Turnbull (Moore); sister, Cheryl Hayes; brother, Donnie (Carol) Turnbull; Aunt Loretta Kotula; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Kathy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Kathy's memory to the Women's Cancer Research Foundation at https://www.womenscancerfoundation.com.
