Charles Uray Jr.
Hudson - Charles Uray Jr., 95, died Friday afternoon, November 13, 2020 at Summa Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Uray was born May 17, 1925 in Youngstown, OH, a son of Charles and Isabella Bartos Uray.
Raised in Youngstown, Chuck was a graduate of Chaney High School. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Naval Air Corps and later as a transport pilot for U.S. Naval Reserves for 27 years.
He received his Bachelor of Engineering from Youngstown State University in 1956 and his Master's in Business Administration from Pepperdine University in 1970. A registered professional engineer, Chuck was employed by the international architectural-engineering firm of Daniel, Mann, Johnson and Mendenhall in Washington DC. His career involved both civil and military projects throughout the United States as well as overseas.
On January 24, 1970, Charles married Norma Lou Wagner, formerly of Struthers, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Los Angeles, CA, and they started their married life in Los Angeles. Upon retirement, Chuck and Norma settled in Hudson, OH where they were active members of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hudson. Norma passed away on January 14, 2012.
Chuck was extremely proud of his Hungarian Heritage and had a soft spot for a good chicken paprikash.
Chuck is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Besides his parents, Charles and Isabelle Uray, and wife, Norma, Chuck was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Hallitt.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hudson.
