TWINSBURG - Anna Marie Nye (nee Gribbon) passed away peacefully on April 28, 2020, at 93.
Born December 23, 1926 in Youngstown, to Paul and Isabel ((Lynch) Gribbon.
Preceded in death by her husband, J. Donald Nye, her parents, her brother, Paul (Florence) Gribbon, formerly of Hialeah, Fl, her sister, Sally (Vince) Herron, her sons, Bobby (age 8 mo.) and John (age 21) and her daughter, Margaret Mary (age 59). She is survived by 4 sons, Donald, Paul (Wendy), Jim (Carolyn), and Ed (Lisa), as well as grandchildren, Peter (Jaimie), Jeff (Abby), Kevin (Jenna), John, Rusty, David, Garrett, and Melissa (Matt) Schweller; 7 great-grandchildren, many other relations.
She was a valued and faithful friend to countless others. Anna Marie graduated from Youngstown Ursuline Catholic High School, Class of ‘45, surprising her parents by paying her entire senior year tuition from her part-time and summer wages. Shortly after high school she met her life’s love, J. Donald, at a dance at Idora Park Ballroom, each on a date with another (all remained friends). They married in Oct. ‘49 in St. Dominic Catholic Church, Youngstown, beginning a strong and faithful 66+ years together till his passing in 2016. The couple moved to the Cleveland area in ‘51, settling in South Euclid where they welcomed 6 sons and a daughter. When the kids were older, she returned to retail sales for many years primarily with Higbee’s and Dillard’s department stores. Anna Marie and Don were vital members of St. Margaret Mary Parish until they retired to Twinsburg in the ‘90s and joined Sts. Cosmos and Damian Parish. After Mr. Nye passed, Anna Marie moved to Maplewood at Chardon, a continuing care residence, where the staff provided excellent care.
She was a compassionate, other-centered, very social and fun-loving person and had a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Final arrangements are through the Ohio Cremation and Memorial Society as she requested. Due to Covid19 precautions, cemetery services will be immediate family only.
