CUYAHOGA FALLS - Evelyn Johanna Palmatier, affectionately known as GG to family and friends alike, passed away peacefully at her home in Cuyahoga Falls on February 27th.
She was born August 29, 1934 in Binghamton, NY to father George Lawrence and mother Elizabeth (Lesko), and was one of seven children. She met her husband Donald at the roller skating rink in Binghamton and they moved to Kent, Ohio in 1962, where she worked at Sparkle Market for 25 years. From there she moved to her treasured house on 16th Street in Cuyahoga Falls and cared for those at Altercare nursing home on Bailey Road.
Evelyn raised two daughters and her granddaughter, as well as her many beloved kitties and dog, Buddy. She greatly enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower gardens, baking kolaches, and visiting her daughter and son-in-law in California. She was a gentle and loving soul, deeply caring of all living things, and would never say a negative thing about anyone. She gave the best hugs. She had a strong faith in God and spent many Sundays at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband Donald, parents George and Elizabeth, siblings Steve, Edward, Georgia, and Joanne, and best friend Aleta Donnette. She is survived by her loving daughters Elizabeth Palmatier (Michael) and Cheryl Stevens (Bruce), her granddaughter, Kristina Deckert (Alex), and her two brothers Thomas and Jack.
