Richard (Dick) Ford Rundell, age 91 of Hudson, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018.

Dick was born in 1927 and grew up on a farm in upstate New York. He graduated from high school in 1944 and immediately entered the Navy’s V-12 training program (later NROTC) at Cornell University. Upon his discharge in 1946 he returned to Cornell to complete his education. He was awarded a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree in 1948.

During the early years of his career he held various positions in the Bayway (New Jersey) Refinery of Esso Standard Oil Company and with Standard Oil of Ohio. He spent the last 25 years of his career with the Ostendorf-Morris Company in Cleveland, reaching the position of Vice President in their Property Management Department. While in that position he was instrumental in establishing two housekeeping services companies. He retired in 1994.

Dick has been a resident of Hudson since 1967 and served the community for almost eight years on the Planning Commission, the last two years as Chair. During most of his time in Hudson he has been a member of the First Congregational Church.

Dick was preceded in death by Mary Lou (nee Gerber), his wife of 59 years. He is survived by his sons, Rick (Virginia), John (Emily), Chris (Katie), his daughter Susan, his brother David (Judy) and seven grandchildren, Maxwell, Elisabeth, Anne, Ford, Jakob, Bryce and Logan.

The family will receive friends 3-6PM FRIDAY, AUGUST 3, 2018 at JOHNSON-ROMITO FUNERAL HOME, 19 E. Main St. (On the Square), Hudson, OH (330-650-4181). A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the First Congregational Church of Hudson, 47 Aurora St., Hudson, OH.
