Clarence Edison Danford "Ed", age 96 of Hudson, passed away peacefully March 3, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Julia Frances (nee Dacko), loving father of David J. Danford of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Cynthia A. Danford of Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Brother of 4. Ed served in the US Army during WWII, spending most of his time in Iceland refueling planes, loading munitions, and as a mechanic. His career after WWII was in the printing industry. He took pride in his work as a graphic artist, excelling in lithography.
His spare time was spent helping others, which included volunteering with the local fire department. He was active in St. Mary Church for over 60 years, contributing to its growth from the original Church on the Green in Hudson to the present church on Main Street. He participated on the first building committee and helped locate the land for the existing church, served on the parish council, volunteered as a counter of the weekly collection and ushered at masses. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. More recently he was active in the Life Adult Ministry (LAM) group at St. Mary’s, served as an honor guard, and participated in Feed My Sheep dinners, where he was the official greeter. He also helped with the Men’s Club Lenten seafood dinners.
He loved people and enjoyed full independence, driving and living alone until his death. He was described as a true gentleman. His mission was to tease people, make them smile and spread happiness.
