Richard James Szalay, 72, of Stow, formerly of Hudson, passed away peacefully in the presence of his closest family on the morning of July 22, 2015.

He was born in Cleveland on Jan. 24, 1943 the youngest son of Louis and Anna Szalay. After finishing at St Joseph's Catholic High School and earning his bachelor's degree, he worked in the automobile industry assisting car dealerships across the country. His free time was spent at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Hudson, working often with the Men's Club League and LAM. He will be remembered as a lifelong golfer. He was a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather that fought through years of illness with courage and dignity. His parents and his sister Louise Dvorak preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Jeanine, daughter, Debra (John) Wohlin and sons, Richard (Peggy), Raymond (Elaine) and Robert (Melissa); 11 adoring grandchildren; brother-in-law Phil Dvorak and many nieces and nephews, Friends were received July 26 at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home in Twinsburg. Mass of Christian Burial was July 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cleveland Hope Lodge.
