STOW — An Akron man suffered only a suspected minor injury after he apparently lost control and his car struck an electric utility pole, a fire hydrant and a mailbox and flipped over in a single-vehicle crash on Graham Road near Mayfield Road Sunday morning, police said.
According to a crash report, a couple of witnesses reported the 21-year-old man was westbound on Graham at 7:17 a.m. when he drove his 2016 Ford Focus left of the center line to pass one of the westbound witnesses and struck a curb. The man’s car then went off the road to the left, struck the utility pole and a fire hydrant in front of a home just west of Mayfield, then flipped over as it struck a mailbox in front of a neighboring home.
Ohio Edison replaced the pole, but damage to the hydrant was not reported. Both homes’ yards also sustained damage and the man’s car sustained heavy disabling damage.
Stow EMS took the man to Akron City Hospital for treatment. He was cited with failure to control.
Police said they cleared the scene after about 90 minutes.
