Obstructing official business

Man living at bank building: A homeless man, 44, was charged with misdemeanor obstructing official business after an owner of a vacant Olde Eight Road bank building reported the man was living under the building’s drive thru roof and had yelled at her. The sheriff’s office said the man refused to provide them with identification and when they tried to check him for weapons, he pulled away from them multiple times and when they had him place his hands on a sheriff’s vehicle, he kept pulling away and spinning his body towards sheriff’s deputies. The man was eventually handcuffed and Macedonia EMS took him to Cleveland clinic Twinsburg for evaluation. The owner declined to press a criminal trespassing charge, the sheriff’s office said.

Suspicion

Substance dumped in parking lot: The sheriff’s office said that after they responded to a report that an unknown person was seen dumping a substance in a Route 82 business’ parking lot during the evening May 19, it was determined the substance was just water and mud.

Man was soliciting: The sheriff’s office said that after it responded to a report of a suspicious man going door to door, it found that the man was from Utah and he was soliciting without a permit for a pest control company. The sheriff’s office said it warned the man he needed a permit from the township to solicit.

Mailboxes opened: The sheriff’s office said that after a Shady Lane woman reported May 11 that someone opened her mailbox during the night, a responding deputy saw all of the mailboxes on the road, as well as some on nearby Kitner Boulevard were open. The woman said this was the second time mailboxes on Shady Lane were opened. Nothing was reported missing or damaged.
