CUYAHOGA FALLS — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a weekly summertime classic car show which typically begins in early May has been postponed indefinitely until county health leaders give the OK for the event to move forward.

Last week, officials with the Riverfront Cruise-In, which is presented by Don Sitts Auto Sales, said the weekly show was slated to start June 1. An updated notice on Don Sitts Auto Sales’ website now says the show has been "indefinitely postponed" until Summit County Public Health gives permission for the event to resume.

Don Sitts, who owns the dealership, said he learned through city officials that county health officials need to give approval for his event to move forward.

The Cruise-In is not a city-sponsored event, but Mayor Don Walters said Summit County Public Health follows the guidance provided by the Ohio Department of Health, which he said has not yet "given a green light to large, outdoor … events."

Walters said he expects health officials to releases guidance on events like the Cruise-In in "the coming weeks."

As long as the weather cooperates, the Riverfront Cruise-In typically happens every Monday from 4-8 p.m. on Second Street from early May through early October.
