Kindergarten registration resumes May 18 for Nordonia Hills City School district students.

Those wishing to register should contact Maria Linville at 330-467-0580 or to schedule an appointment.

Only one adult may attend registration and must wear a mask. Masks will be available for those who can't bring their own. Children may not accompany adults.

"COVID-19 has caused disruption to families, schools and businesses throughout the world, and it is still unclear how it may impact all of us in the future," said Superintendent Joe Clark in a message sent to parents today.

Parents looking to register their child for kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year, Clark said, should consider several factors. One, "it is highly possible the 2020-21 school year will be disrupted." This may include a delayed start to the school year, students attending school in shifts, and lengthy school closures during the year. The district will not able to reduce tuition based on these potential disruptions because of the fixed costs of offering kindergarten.

It’s possible that families who enroll in part-time kindergarten may not be able to switch to full-time kindergarten later, Clark said. The deadline to select full-time kindergarten will be July 31. The deadline to switch from full-time to part-time kindergarten and still receive a refund of the deposit also is July 31.

"We know these factors make the enrollment decision difficult, but we wanted you to know the possibilities beforehand so you can make the best informed decision for your family," Clark said.
