STOW – Although graduation for seniors will be memorable for being anything but normal, the city’s parks and recreation department is offering banners to help recognize their achievement.

Parents and residents can honor the 2020 graduates with a commemorative banner displayed on the grounds of the Stow City Center complex for $50. Orders must be received by May 8.

The banners were originally priced at $75 each, but Craig Wilhoit, president of Bain Enterprises on Allen Road, is loaning all the hardware needed to display the banners on city property.

"We were able to lower the price to $50 through his generous contribution," said Mayor John Pribonic. "We have reached out to many of the civic organizations and foundations and had an excellent response for donations."

Banners will be on display through Aug. 1. Families must pick up banners after Aug. 3 and no later than Aug. 31 at Stow City Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This program is open to 2020 graduating seniors that are Stow or Munroe Falls residents no matter which school they attend.

Complete a registration form online at and upload the senior’s digital high-resolution photo during registration, or print out the registration form and send, along with photo, to Stow City Hall, 3760 Darrow Road, Stow, OH 44224.

If anyone would like to support a high school senior by providing a banner for one that is in need, they should add an additional $50 to the order.

"We have families in need so individuals or businesses can adopt a senior," Pribonic said.

The banners are similar to the military banners displayed along the roads and will feature a photograph of the senior with "Congratulations 2020 Graduate" at the top and the student’s name at the bottom.

"It’ll be a neat tribute for people to drive by and see," Pribonic said. "You can walk with your family and see all the graduating seniors while maintaining safe social distancing. The seniors will be able to keep them as a keepsake."
