TALLMADGE – With social distancing still imposed, public buildings and activities remain canceled.
The state of emergency for the city of Tallmadge ends May 15, said Mayor David Kline. He said he will look to Gov. Mike DeWine and the Summit County Health Department for guidance about reopening public facilities and programs.
The Memorial Day parade is canceled along with all the activities scheduled on that weekend, Kline said.
Tallmadge American Legion Post 255 led by Commander Jim Forsythe will maintain a 150-year tradition by laying a wreath to honor veterans who have died for their country at the cemetery for Memorial Day in a small closed ceremony.
Manufacturing businesses will open May 4 and retail shops on May 12 with social distancing, but DeWine has to evaluate restaurants, gyms and beauty salons before they can open.
Until DeWine approves public gatherings, events such as Farmers Markets, Circle Fest and large public groups will not be allowed and may require restrictions if social gathering rules are relaxed.
