Woman reports trail encounter: A Tallmadge woman reported that while she was walking on the bike and hike trail west of Brust Park during the evening April 14, an unknown man walking his dog approached her, would not move aside to let her pass and asked if she wanted to pet his dog. The woman said she declined and continued walking.

Screen found out of window: A Bechers Jump man reported that while keeping an eye on a neighboring home while the residents were away, he saw a screen was out of a window during the late afternoon April 10. Police said they checked the home and found it secure with nothing else out of order. They said a windstorm may have knocked the screen out.

Noise complaint

Motorcycle heard: Police said they responded to a complaint of a motorcycle engine revving in the area of Wilbur Drive and Jean Avenue at around 9:20 p.m. but were unable to find the motorcycle.

Portfolio stolen at store: A Kent woman reported someone stole a portfolio that she left on a table at a store she works at in Hudson Drive’s 3500 block during the day April 18. The woman said the portfolio contained lottery tickets and a notebook with sensitive banking information and family Social Security numbers written in it. She said the table was near the store’s public restrooms so other employees and customers had access to it. Police said they told the woman she should inform the bank and her family about the stolen information.

Leaf blower theft seen: A manager of a McCauley Road landscaping firm reported that an employee witnessed two unidentified suspects take two leaf blowers totaling about $1,000 in value while the employee was mowing a lawn at a business in Commerce Drive’s 1300 block during the late morning April 17. The employee said he saw the suspects load the leaf blowers into the back of a pickup truck and leave the area, driving west.

Tools stolen from garage: A man reported April 15 that someone stole a new chainsaw and three toolboxes containing tools all totaling around $400 in value from his unlocked garage since the night before.

Identity theft

Unauthorized charges at hotel: The manager of a Steels Pointe Drive hotel reported April 14 that a North Carolina woman called to report that someone used her credit card information to pay $260 for a room at the hotel. Police said the room’s occupants told them that they had given the money to an unknown person who paid for the room with a credit card. The manager confirmed that the occupants were not the ones who presented an apparently fraudulent credit card to pay for the room. Police said the investigation was closed.
