TALLMADGE — Graduation for this year’s high school seniors is still set for May 27 at E.J. Thomas Hall in Akron, according to information provided by the district.

Still, just in case, the Tallmadge school district has secured E.J. Thomas for July 1 as an alternate, stated Michael Householder, high school principal, in a Tweet sent today.

Last week, Gov. Mike DeWine ordered that schools close their physical buildings in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19. Tallmadge schools, which have been closed since Monday, are tentatively scheduled to reopen April 6; however, Superintendent Jeff Ferguson stated in a notice posted online yesterday that the district is "being told to plan for a longer shutdown beyond the April 6 return date."

In his Tweet, Householder said that "all senior events except for None Under 21 are still on as planned," but that parents would be contacted should this change.
