Cuyahoga Falls City Schools is cancelling or postponing upcoming large group events in response to recommendations officials received from public health organizations and state authorities regarding the coronavirus.

In an all-call to district homes Wednesday night, District Superintendent Dr. Todd Nichols stated: "In response to newly released recommendations from public health organizations and state authorities, starting today we are canceling all non-essential indoor large group activities and gatherings, as well as all student field trips. At this time, we are still permitting small group after-school club meetings and practices."

While recognizing the situation is "disappointing" for the students and families who were planning to participated in these events, Nichols said it is "critical" for district leaders to "make incremental decisions that are in the best interest of our students, families and staff."

Events that were scheduled from March 12 through 20 are being canceled or postponed.
