Guns found in vehicle: A 26-year-old Akron man was charged with two counts of third-degree felony weapons under disability and single counts of fourth-degree felony carrying a concealed weapon and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and fifth-degree felony drug possession following a traffic stop on Howe Avenue near Route 8 at a little after 10 p.m. March 8. The man was also charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia possession, driving without a license and marked lanes.
Police said they found two handguns, one of them loaded, a substance that field tested positive as meth, and a drug smoking bowl in the man’s vehicle. The man is not allowed to possess the guns due to a prior felony drug conviction, said police. He pulled away from officers as they were arresting him and ran, but was caught, said police. He was taken to Summit County Jail.
A passenger in the vehicle, a 21-year-old Akron woman, was cited with open container, said police.
Man had gun on him: Police said they charged an Akron man, 30, with fourth-degree felony carrying a concealed weapon, fifth-degree felony forgery and misdemeanor drug abuse instruments possession after a Howe Avenue business employee reported the man tried to cash a fraudulent $826 check at the business March 2. Police said they found a loaded .22-caliber revolver attached to the man’s ankle and a hypodermic needle in his possession. The man was taken to Summit County Jail.
Women solicited police detective: Police said they charged a Massillon woman, 49, and an Akron woman, 38, with third-degree misdemeanor solicitation after they allegedly offered a Cuyahoga Falls police detective sex for money at a Front Street hotel during the evening March 5. The women were given Stow Municipal Court dates and released on personal bonds.
Plate taken off vehicle: A Stone Street man reported March 5 that someone stole his vehicle’s front license plate while the vehicle was parked outside his home since Feb. 22.
Jacket stolen and recovered: A Cuyahoga Falls woman reported someone took her jacket with keys in a pocket totaling about $200 in value from on top of a storage cupboard at the city’s 4th Street Natatorium during the early evening March 4. Police said a Natatorium employee later found the items and returned them to the woman.
Catalytic converter taken from vehicle: A Winter Parkway man reported March 2 that someone stole his vehicle’s approximately $2,000 catalytic converter while the vehicle was parked outside his home during the night.
Men seen pushing cart: Police said they charged two Akron men, ages 32 and 37, with misdemeanor theft after an officer on patrol stopped to investigate the men while they were pushing a shopping cart filled with nearly $600 worth of groceries in the area of State and Highbridge roads at about 10:15 p.m. March 1 and discovered the men had allegedly stolen the groceries and cart from a State Road store more than a mile away. Police said they also charged the younger man with fifth-degree felony drug possession and misdemeanor obstructing official business and drug paraphernalia possession after he ran from them and they found him in possession of a substance that field tested positive as meth and a short straw. The older man was also charged with misdemeanor prohibited weapons, said police, in connection with two knives more than 2.5 inches in length found in his possession. The younger man was taken to Summit County Jail. The older man was given a Stow Municipal Court date and released on a personal bond.
Earphones stolen at high school: A Kathron Avenue woman reported someone stole her son’s approximately $190 set of wireless earphones while he was at Cuyahoga Falls High School during the early afternoon Feb. 27.
Items stolen from apartment: An Americana Drive man reported March 2 that someone entered his apartment and stole unspecified items totaling an estimated $5,100 in value since Feb. 22. The man said he believed the apartment was locked, but police said they found no signs of forced entry.
Packaged meth found: Police said they charged a 48-year-old Roanoke Avenue woman with third-degree felony drug trafficking and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession following a traffic stop for an unspecified equipment violation at the State Road and Portage Trail intersection at about 8:35 p.m. March 2. Police said that after a police K-9 indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, they found a soda can with a hidden compartment containing two packages holding a total of 4 grams of a substance that field tested positive as meth in the woman’s purse. Police said they also found three devices used for smoking meth in the vehicle. The woman was taken to Cuyahoga Falls City Jail.
